The Islamabad High Court has granted bail to several senior leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) who were arrested in connection with the violent protests following the arrest of Imran Khan.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the bail petitions. The court’s decision comes after the defense argued that the arrests were politically motivated and lacked substantial evidence.
The prosecution alleged that the PTI leaders incited violence and damaged public property, but the defense maintained that the accusations were baseless and aimed at curbing political dissent. Justice Farooq highlighted the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring that individuals are not detained without just cause.
This ruling has been seen as a significant development in the ongoing political turmoil in Pakistan, with many viewing it as a reaffirmation of judicial independence.
